Home Screen and Destinations

Your Home screen is the starting point for managing destinations and accessing risk information.

To add a destination:

  1. Tap the plus (+) button on the Home screen.
  2. Search by city name, IATA code, or ICAO code.
  3. Select the location from the results list.

Destination Information

Each destination card gives you access to:

  • Travel Guide — arrival methods, local language, currency, cultural etiquette, and more
  • Medical Guide — emergency numbers, food risk, health care, disease information, and vaccination recommendations
  • Security Guide — airport information, airspace assessments, risk zones, crime data, and political situation
  • Alerts and NOTAMs — real-time travel safety alerts and FAA Notices to Airmen for flight planning
  • Tools — city directory, weather (TAFs and METARs), and embassy/consulate contacts

Push notifications can be enabled to receive alerts for your saved destinations directly on your device.

Assistance: On-the-Ground and In-Flight

The app provides two modes of assistance:

On-the-Ground: Access MedLink In-Flight, Non-Emergency Medical Assistance, and Aviation Security Assistance contact numbers directly from the app.

In-Flight: The In-Flight Assistance tool guides first responders through a structured medical assessment during an in-flight event. It is built from real medical cases and is designed to speed up information collection for MedLink doctors.

Using the In-Flight Assistance Tool
  1. Select the relevant scenario from the list (e.g., Chest Pain, Seizure, Shortness of Breath, Suspected Infectious Disease).
  2. Follow the immediate actions checklist — steps include providing oxygen, retrieving the AED, and obtaining a medical kit.
  3. Record the passenger's vital signs, pain characteristics, symptoms, medical history, allergies, medications, gender, and age.
  4. Review the Situation Summary, which compiles all collected information.
  5. Save the summary as an image or share it via AirDrop.
  6. Tap Call in the Situation Summary to connect directly with a MedLink doctor (Wi-Fi required).

ECG Recording with Diagnostic Kit Integration

When a MedLink doctor requests an electrocardiogram:

  1. Select Perform ECG from the Situation Summary page.
  2. Attach the electrode leads and verify all leads show green under the Leads view.
  3. Tap REC to begin recording. The ECG records for 9 seconds.
  4. Transmit the results to the MedLink doctor once recording is complete.

Medical Kit Management

Scanning a kit during an in-flight assessment:

  1. Tap the plus (+) button within the assessment.
  2. Allow camera access and scan the QR code on the medical kit.
  3. The kit will appear automatically in the active assessment.

Registering a kit to a tail number:

  1. Open the main menu (three lines, top right corner) and select Register Medical Kit.
  2. Tap Scan, allow camera access, and scan the QR code on the kit.
  3. Enter the aircraft tail number and save. Repeat this process to update a kit or change a tail number.
