USER GUIDE: Portal & Aviation App Updates (July 2026)
THE JULY 2026 RELEASE OF THE MEDAIRE PORTAL AND AVIATION APP GIVES YOU THE REASONS BEHIND EVERY RISK RATING, NOT JUST THE SCORE. CITY-LEVEL DATA NOW TAKES PRIORITY OVER COUNTRY-LEVEL DATA ACROSS THE APP, PORTAL, AND ALL DOWNLOADED REPORTS, AND THE DASHBOARD, AIRPORT PANEL, AND REPORT DESIGNS HAVE ALL BEEN REFRESHED TO MATCH.
MedAire Portal & Aviation App Updates: July 2026
This release is built around one central idea: giving you not just a risk rating, but the factors driving it. Updates span the Aviation App, the Portal, and every report you generate.
Aviation App UpdatesRisk Ratings That Explain Themselves
The Risk Hub now appears at the top of every airport page, showing the Medical and Security risk for that location. Tap either banner to expand it and see the specific factors behind the score.
Security risk breaks down into five factors:
- Social & Political Unrest
- Conflict
- Crime
- Natural Disasters
- Infrastructure
Medical risk breaks down into:
- Health Threats
- Medical Care
- Sanitation
- Air Pollution (where data is available)
Each factor has its own risk rating bar with a dropdown for more detail. You can see at a glance which issues are driving an overall score. For example, a city can carry a Medium overall rating while Crime and Natural Disasters run at a higher level than Conflict.
City Information Now Comes First
When a city is in the MedAire database, its risk rating now appears before the country rating. City and country ratings are often the same in highly developed areas, but they can differ significantly elsewhere. For example, Juarez, Mexico carries a higher security risk than Mexico as a country. Leading with the city gives you the most relevant risk picture for the place you are actually operating.
Check Your App Version Without Leaving Settings
In Settings, next to the App Version number, you will now see either "up to date" or "out of date." There is no need to leave the app to verify you are running the latest version.
Refresh the Alerts Feed
On the Travel Safety Alerts page, drag down on the screen to manually refresh the feed. The page also shows when the feed was last updated, so you always know how current your information is.
Portal UpdatesDashboard Enhancements
The dashboard has a cleaner, faster layout with two key changes:
- Unified filter bar: The display toggles for Airports, Alerts, Airspace, Weather, GNSS, and Fleet are now grouped into a single dropdown. Set all your filters in one place instead of opening each menu separately. Note: the FIRS filter has been renamed Airspace.
- Condensed alert tab: The Alerts tab along the bottom of the dashboard is now a simple alert icon, with a red notification badge showing the number of new alerts.
My Airports Enhancements
The My Airports table now includes a Tails column, showing any of your aircraft currently located at each airport based on last known position. Alert indicators have also been redesigned: alerts within 100 km of an airport now appear as an orange circle with an alert icon, plus a red badge counting new alerts.
Airport Panel Enhancements
When you open the Airport Panel:
- City data is prioritized. When city information is available, it now appears before country information.
- Tabs are easier to read. The redesigned panel makes it clearer which tab you are currently viewing.
- The panel extends full height. More information is visible without scrolling.
- Aircraft at the airport are listed. If you have a tail at the airport, scroll to the bottom of the Overview section to find it under the new MY AIRCRAFT header, showing tail number, route, and last update time.
City Tab Enhancements
The City tab now opens with a full breakout of the city's Security and Medical ratings. Each rating appears as a gauge, followed by the categories MedAire evaluates and how each one is rated. For cities, Medical also includes Air Pollution as a factor. The security overview, orientation details, and city calendar remain below the ratings.
Country Tab Enhancements
The Country tab follows the same structure. Country Security and Medical ratings display as gauges, with the categories behind each score. Active advisories appear at the top, followed by country-specific issues and emergency numbers.
How These Updates Flow Into Your Reports
The upgraded risk data behind this release feeds directly into every report you generate, not just what you see on screen.
City and airport information leads. When a city rating exists, it is prioritized above country information in every report.
Ratings come with their reasons. The full Security and Medical sub-ratings, each with a plain-language definition, now appear in your reports. You are no longer limited to a color and a category.
Airspace has its own score. Reports now include an overall airspace risk rating. This did not exist prior to this release.
Aviation Travel Security Brief (ATSB)
- Opens with a one-page summary showing Airport, City, Country, and Airspace ratings together
- The airport rating is displayed as an easy-to-read gauge
- COVID ratings have been removed, reflecting that COVID is now endemic
- The download date is shown in UTC
Airspace Assessment
- Opens with a rating gauge for overall airspace risk
- A new Risk Areas section shows overlapping risk areas on a satellite map
- Risk levels appear directly next to the data they describe (for example, "FL-260 High Risk")
- Weaponry types are displayed as a visual icon row instead of a plain text list
City & Country Reports
These reports now lead with the full Security and Medical sub-ratings for the city and country, each with a plain-language definition, followed by the Travel Risk Summary.
