Member UNEXPECTED AOG IN HIGH-RISK CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC

5 February 2021
a Private Aviation Charter client reported they were AOG in Bangui - a tyre blew upon landing during what was supposed to be a short-turnaround operation. MedAire recommended secure accommodations for the crewmembers and guests in Bangui.

After the hotel information was provided, the Security Specialist used MedAire's proprietary global network of vetted providers to identify security personnel in the Central African Republic. They coordinated with a trusted local provider and presented a plan by email to the client within 20 minutes. Due to the urgency of the situation, the Security Specialist followed up with a phone call to confirm the client had received the information.

Although the aircraft was initially grounded for the tyre issue, a hydraulics issue was also discovered, leaving the aircraft and crew stuck on the ground for the remainder of the week.

11 February 2021 still AOG, MedAire’s Global Response Centre made arrangements for a cash advance because the crew was beginning to run out of money. Bangui is in a very remote location, only a company with the extensive resources of MedAire could accomplish this feat.

13 February 2021 the aircraft is cleared to operate, and the crewmembers returned home.
