During a flight, have you ever heard, "are there any doctors on board?" Or worse, had your flight diverted due to an emergency? It is common for medical emergencies to occur in the sky, just as they do on the ground. However, the likelihood of experiencing an in-flight medical emergency is much higher than the average person might think. Did you know that MedAire's Global Response Centre receives roughly 300 calls every day? The most common medical case types include gastrointestinal, neurological, musculoskeletal, infectious/communicable, and respiratory illnesses. Essentially, MedAire saves lives in places where medical treatment is not easily accessible, whether on the deck of a yacht in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea or the galley of an aircraft 40,000 feet in the air. As MedAire's security business grows, so has the number of requests for intelligence relating to travel to and over the Middle East region. To best support clients and their requests, MedAire has made significant investments to expand their regional footprint internationally to expand personnel additions and technology backed operational resources.

As a company driven by experts, MedAire is adding two dedicated Aviation Security specialists and a Security Manager based out of its Dubai operations centre. These new positions highlight MedAire's commitment to providing clients subject matter experts with local expertise across the globe. In addition, to support client-led feedback, MedAire has enriched its aviation security content management system and technological capabilities, enabling their experts to enhance the client experience.

MedAire's Hany Bakr has been appointed as Senior Vice President Aviation Security and Maritime to lead this international expansion and support the product development portfolio with new online tools and capabilities. Hany will support clients in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific regions by helping manage and mitigate risks to their people, aircraft, luxury yachts, operations, and reputations.

"As organisations strive to manage aviation travel security risks to keep employees and customers safe, MedAire continues to invest, expand and enhance our best-in-class suite of services. Technology alone can't support an operation during a critical event, which is why MedAire continually invests in people like Hany each year in addition to tech investments," said Bill Dolny, CEO MedAire. Hany brings over 20 years of experience as an aviation and security professional who has held executive leadership positions in airlines' airport operations, safety, quality and security divisions in the United Kingdom and the Gulf region. Hany was also the Chairman of the Oneworld Alliance Security Group, Chairman of the Arab Air Carriers' Organisation (AACO) Security Intelligence Task Force, Chairman of the Qatar Airways Security Risks, Threats & Security Action Groups and a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Security Executive Group representing 290 airlines.

"Global risks are increasing each day. From geopolitical instability to border restrictions due to the impact of COVID-19, the need for a local and regional presence to provide non-biased, timely aviation and maritime-specific advice has never been greater," Dolny continues. "MedAire's clients speak directly with local subject matter experts for additional intelligence and advice anytime. Giving our client's 24/7 access to industry-leading experts makes us unique in the industry."

MedAire is the proven travel health and security risk management leader for the aviation industry.
