Hangar Safety Training

Prepare maintenance crew and hangar employees to respond in an emergency 

When accidents occur your maintenance crew needs to be prepared to respond. Do they know what they should do to minimize injury and reduce risks?

MedAire courses help maintenance personnel and crew identify common hangar hazards, increase hangar safety and respond to an injury or medical event within the hangar. 

COURSE FEATURES AND CONTENT

  • Hands-on first-responder medical training with course material adapted for the hangar environment.
  • Learn techniques to recognize, prevent and respond to sudden medical emergencies that commonly occur in hangars.
  • Based on your hangar environment and equipment, instructors show your employees where to find equipment in the hangar and how to use an AED.
  • Earn certification for AED and CPR modules from the American Heart Association (AHA) or European Resuscitation Council (ERC).
  • MedAire instructors conduct a walk-through of your hangar and identify potential risks.
  • MedAire instructors have extensive backgrounds in aviation and emergency medicine; they understand both the aircraft and hangar environment and the circumstances unique to both.

BE PREPARED: MedAire One-day Hangar Safety Awareness

One-day Hangar Safety awareness training is designed for aviation maintenance professionals who are exposed to work hazards in the hangar every day. Students are prepared to recognize, prevent and respond to sudden medical emergency situations commonly occurring in confined environments. The course focuses on treatment for medical or traumatic injury in the first 10 minutes until help arrives.

OSHA CERTIFIED: Two-day Hangar Safety Program

Earn an OSHA General Industry Certificate for participation in MedAire’s Two-Day Hangar Safety Program. Earn a U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour course completion card and fulfil OSHA General Industry Requirements such as: hazard communication, hazardous material, electrical safety, walking and working surfaces, means of egress and fire protection, personal protective equipment, noise exposure.

Management of In-flight Illness and Injury

TRAINING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT WAY TO PREPARE YOUR CREW FOR THE UNEXPECTED.

Crewmembers learn first responder techniques to manage medical emergencies with MedAire’s MedLink physicians using the medical kit onboard your aircraft. Hands-on classroom scenarios are based on real cases from MedAire’s 30 years of in-flight medical case histories.

MedAire’s Management of In-Flight Illness and Injury helps your crew meet regulatory compliance under EASA and FAA. MedAire training is tailored to your aircraft and teaches the differences for handling the medical emergencies while onboard at altitude. 

Passengers are taught to respond to medical emergencies, by leveraging MedAire’s MedLink ground-based doctors and the aircraft medical kit.

Executive Passenger Medical Training

GIVE YOUR PASSENGERS THE CONFIDENCE TO HELP IN AN EMERGENCY.

Risk-based, scenario training provides situational understanding of common in-flight medical events. This training is focused on the most common and most critical events based on 30 years of MedAire’s in-flight medical emergency data. 

Passengers learn first responder skills like victim assessment, CPR methods and AED operation PLUS adapted techniques for differences due to cabin environment and altitude. MedAire training conforms to every learning style; training includes active student participation, hands-on exercises, instructor evaluation and a suite of audio and visual tools to reinforce key topics.

COURSE FEATURES AND CONTENT

PRE-FLIGHT

  • MedAire integration with corporate health and safety programs.
  • Steps for travel preparation and resources available.
  • Available resources on the Aviation App and MedAire Member Portal.

EN ROUTE

  • Aviation cabin environment and the characteristics that may impact passengers’ health.
  • High altitude flight influences on a passenger physiology.
  • Primary and secondary survey during a medical assessment and vital signs.
  • Recognize and manage various medical and traumatic events utilizing MedAire’s products and services.
  • Management of medical and traumatic events including: hypoxia, decompression sickness, allergic reaction, chest pain, stroke, infectious diseases, traumatic injuries including bleeding, shock, splinting, burns.
  • Effective CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and relief of choking techniques
  • Complete a simulated MedLink call during a training patch.

Travel Risk Awareness eLearning

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS TO ENHANCE PERSONAL SAFETY

Preparing crew and passengers before travel is an essential to your travel risk management plan. In Travel Risk Awareness eLearning, students learn personal safety best practices to help mitigate the safety risks they face when travelling.

COURSE FEATURES AND CONTENT

MedAire’s Travel Risk Awareness eLearning content was derived from real life scenarios taken from over 30 years of MedAire’s medical and security assistance experience.

Crewmembers and passengers will have the knowledge and skills to enhance their personal safety when travelling, this training is beneficial to all levels of travellers from the inexperienced to the most seasoned. The course utilizes the latest multimedia trends including infographics, animations and videos from experts keep students engaged.

By the end of the course students will understand:

  • Common incidents and risks when travelling
  • How to use MedAire’s Aviation App as a resource
  • Principles of personal security preparation
  • Precautions to take in daily activities, such as: accommodation, transport, food & drink, health & hygiene, endemic diseases, worldwide health standards
  • How to respond to acts of violence, crime, natural disasters and health incidents in an unfamiliar location
