Bombardier Business Jet Solutions Adds Package of MedAire Services to Challenger Fleet
PHOENIX, Ariz. (October 12, 1998) If individuals experience a medical problem while traveling with Bombardier Business JetSolutions, they will have peace of mind knowing that MedAire, Inc. is with them every step of the way.
For the first time, BBJS, Dallas, Texas, will team up with MedAire, Inc., Phoenix, Ariz., in providing 24-hour medical advice and assistance while in-flight or on the ground domestically or abroad .
The service, MedLink Worldwide, includes 24-hour physician consultation; foreign medical provider referrals; trip-specific immunization recommendations and tracking; on-ground medical response coordination; air ambulance coordination; and pre-travel nurse consultation, alerts and recommendations.
Effective September 28, each aircraft in the FlexJet Challenger Fleet was equipped with an automated external defibrillator (AED). Additionally, MedLink Worldwide is now a standard feature, along with MedAire aircraft first aid kits, and international emergency medial kits.
"What this enhancement means to crew members and passengers is that they wont need to worry about medical emergencies when they travel on a FlexJet flight -overseas or anywhere," said George Ferito, Director of Flight Operations. "If an individual becomes ill, the procedure is simple and efficient. Call MedLink for the advice of board certified emergency physicians, and let them take care of the details."
"BBJSs commitment to placing AEDs on their aircraft positions them as an aircraft manufacturing leader in providing medical services to their customers," said Joan Sullivan Garrett, MedAire president.
Business JetSolutions hallmark program, FlexJet, allows individuals or companies to purchase a share of a Bombardier business jet at a fraction of the full ownership cost. Owners in the FlexJet program have access to their aircraft 24 hours a day and can fly to more than 5,000 U.S. airports in as little as four hours notice. Flight crew employment and training, aircraft maintenance, hangar fees, fuel and insurance are all managed on behalf of the owners by Business JetSolutions.
Given BBJSs commitment to customer-service, it is no wonder that the company has taken another safety-related measure; JetSolutions is offering crew training with MedAires extensive course, Management of Inflight Illness and Injury, which covers a host of pertinent inflight medical training issues from CPR and bloodborne pathogen instruction to altitude physiology and the treatment of asthma, diabetes and food poisoning.
Since 1986, MedAire has been setting the standard in providing a wide range of medical expertise, services and products specifically for the aviation industry. The services of the privately-held, Phoenix, Arizona and Oslo, Norway-based company are used in more than 30 countries by corporate flight departments, commercial airlines, and government agencies.
