PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 16, 2000) –
Omni Air, a supplemental carrier based in Tulsa Oklahoma, is now
providing round-the-clock, air-to-ground medical assistance to
their customers through MedLink, MedAire® Inc.’s
emergency telemedicine program, which began January
1, 2000.
With the addition of MedLink to
Omni’s inflight services, crews will be able to consult
directly with one of MedLink’s 15 board-certified emergency
physicians at any time during flight – 24 hours-a-day.
"Now our passengers can rest
assured that, should they ever require it, medical assistance is
always only a phone call away," says Trisha Frank, Director
of Marketing at Omni Air.
"Omni’s decision is
further proof of airlines’ shift in thinking – with a focus
on medical safety issues," says Joan Sullivan Garrett,
president of MedAire. "This agreement speaks to Omni’s
commitment to its customers and illustrates the airline’s
understanding that medical emergencies can occur anywhere –
even on flights of shorter duration. In fact, we deal with more
than 360 inflight medical emergency situations per month, so we
can provide peace of mind to passengers and help crew members by
providing an additional level of confidence as they work to
manage an inflight illness or injury."
Founded in 1993 as a B-727 cargo
operator, Omni began DC-10 passenger operations in December
1997. Additional information can be found on their website at www.omniairintl.com.
