For those requiring MCA compliance*, MedAire’s MCA Medical System helps streamline the management of your ship’s onboard medical stores, making inventories much more efficient. The required medications and equipment are delivered in five kits, and can be scaled in increments of 10, for 10 to 50 crew.

1. First Aid Kit
Engineered to treat the most common medical situations that commonly occur in the maritime environment, this kit contains all of your basic First Aid supplies. The wall-mountable storage case contains items such as medical gloves, adhesive bandages, gauze, burn gel, eye wash, eye pads and triangular bandages. Because of its frequent use, the MCA requires one kit for every 10 people – up to three units per vessel.

2. Expirable Medication Kit
This kit supplies a comprehensive store of prescription and non-prescription medications. The contents are delivered in soft-sided carrying cases and separated into color-coded, see-through pouches that are easily removable for quick identification and utilization. Due to the prescriptive contents, the kits may only be used at the express instruction of a MedLink doctor or ship’s captain.

3. Equipment and Consumables Kit
You will find all of the general supplies needed to facilitate the treatment of nearly any medical situation in this kit, including dressings and suturing supplies, surgical instruments, injection supplies, and examination and monitoring equipment.

4. Oxygen & Resuscitation Kit
Crew will have the necessary oxygen management tools in this kit to aid in the treatment of a range of conditions that can occur at sea: vasovagal (fainting) episodes, seizures, choking episodes, cardiac events, panic/anxiety attacks and chronic respiratory ailments.

5. Splinting and Orthopedic Management Kit
This equipment is a necessity in providing fast, effective and comfortable patient immobilization. The vacuum-operated splints are designed to treat neck, spinal and various extremity injuries by molding to the specific contours of the body, reducing pressure-point tenderness and rehabilitation time.
