NBAA ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 19, 2008 – MedAire’s expert medical instructors will
return to NBAA to create a healthy buzz by administering 600 cholesterol tests to convention attendees at MedAire’s booth no. 1075. On hand to read the results,
which take five minutes to process, are two of MedAire’s MedLink emergency care physicians: David Streitwieser, FACEP, M.D., and Dr. Moneesh Bhow, M.D. 

MedAire has provided complimentary cholesterol tests at NBAA for 18 consecutive years. Test recipients with a total blood cholesterol level in the “high risk” category
(of 240+ mg/dL) will receive a free digital jump rope to help accelerate the MedLink doctor-recommended exercise regimen.

“Cholesterol is one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular diseases,” said        
Paulo M. Alves, M.D. and MedAire’s vice president of Medical Services. “Keeping blood cholesterol within recommended levels is a goal for everyone, but even more for those who accumulate other risk factors or who were already diagnosed with coronary or cerebral artery disease. A doctor can better decide the best treatment approach for any individual case.”

The American Heart Association estimates that nearly 106 million Americans have total cholesterol of 200 mg/dL or higher, a level at which cardiovascular risk begins to rise. Additionally, 36.6 million of the U.S. adult population has high blood cholesterol levels. According to the AHA.org, your total blood cholesterol will fall into one of these categories:

• Desirable — Less than 200 mg/dL

• Borderline high risk — 200–239 mg/dL

• High risk — 240 mg/dL and over
