Management of Inflight Illness and Injury Training
(MIII)

Topics of training include: human anatomy, altitude physiology, assessing medical emergencies, learning and practicing basic life support techniques including CPR, treating traumatic injuries, use of oxygen systems, use of personal protection equipment for the rescuer, and more.
Automatic External Defibrillator Training
MedAire is the aviation industry leader in championing the cause of implementing automated external defibrillators. Classes teach students how to respond effectively to cardiac arrest victims using AED equipment with the hands-on portion of the training occurring in the environment in which the AED may be used.
Bloodborne Pathogens Prevention
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is advising U.S. air carriers to provide appropriate information and tools to help protect their employees from the threat of bloodborne pathogens such as hepatitis B (HBV) and human immunodeficiency (HIV). MedAire has developed a field-tested and field-proven turnkey bloodborne pathogens prevention program designed specifically to integrate easily into
your training regimen.
Hangar Safety Training
This two-day "awareness training" course is designed for aviation maintenance professionals who have daily exposure to work hazards in the hangar setting and are looking to be proactive in workplace safety. This course prepares students to recognize, prevent and respond to sudden medical emergency situations commonly found in confined environments. Content includes basic lifesaving skills (CPR) including use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), managing medical and traumatic emergencies, and an overview of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulatory requirements.
Upon completion, students will gain an understanding of how to recognize, prevent and respond to sudden emergency situations. They will also become qualified in CPR and AED use, as well as receive a 10-hour OSHA General Industry course completion card and an American Heart Association HeartSaver AED completion card.
Crew Medical Training
(available monthly at FSI Teterboro)
MedAire’s Crew Medical course is a combination of FlightSafety and MedAire training. The FlightSafety portion of training includes a day-and-a-half of training on emergency assignments and procedures, security, decompression procedures, food handling and safety, a review of accidents, incidents and CRM. Attendees will participate in offsite ditching exercises and fire drills utilizing the same equipment that is in use onboard their aircraft.
The MedAire portion of training addresses medical emergencies, patient assessment, CPR/AED, infectious diseases and universal precautions, splinting and stabilization, oxygen equipment and more. To reduce amount of time spent in the classroom, prior to class, students must complete four web-based training modules on AED, Bloodborne pathogens, Altitude Physiology and Tools for Medical Resource Management.
