WE ARE
Since 1985, MedAire, Inc. has been assisting the passengers and crew of hundreds of business jets, commercial airlines, luxury yachts and commercial ships through its expert medical
education training courses, medical equipment offerings and the medical and logistical
expertise of its 24/7 MedLink Global Response Centers.
Credited with establishing the world’s first global emergency response center dedicated to providing immediate, real-time medical assistance to people in remote locations, MedAire’s integrated “Three E” system -
education, equipment and expertise – today serves more than 2,000 clients worldwide.
Medical Education:
For two decades, MedAire has employed a team of aviation and maritime medical specialists with experience working in remote environments. These high-caliber individuals meet the strict standards established by MedAire, each holding certification as practicing flight paramedics, flight nurses, R.N.s or EMT-Ps. All instructors are also certified in Basic Life Support instruction (BLS) through the American Heart Association, and most hold the AHA’s Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider certification. These professional trainers go beyond the basics, providing crewmembers with a solid understanding of how to prevent and manage remote emergencies from first response through recovery. MedAire’s training reflects the company’s intimate understanding of the harsh realities of the often unforgiving aviation and maritime environments. Unlike typical first aid courses, MedAire training takes into consideration isolation and time factors that are commonplace at sea or in the air. As a result, crew trained by MedAire learn more than just CPR. They gain an understanding of human anatomy and physiology, know how to conduct medical and traumatic emergency assessments, treat common illnesses and injuries, and gain hands-on experience in handling defibrillators and other medical equipment.
Equipment:
MedAire is known for introducing state-of-the-art medical solutions to clients, including its environment-specific medical kits and AEDs in the 90s, which, today, have become almost commonplace in aircraft, ships, airports and other public facilities. Currently, MedAire is acting as a test-bed for companies around the world wanting to introduce the first generation of remote medical diagnostic technology that can transmit a person’s vital signs from any location. MedAire is the recognized industry leader for up-to-date medical kits and pharmaceutical recommendations and is the single source for medical supplies and gear for the aviation and maritime industries.
Expertise:
MedAire’s Global Emergency Response Centers rely upon the medical expertise of seasoned professionals – board certified emergency physicians, Registered Nurse case managers and communication specialists. Crewmembers, who often find themselves in the role of emergency first responder, experience comfort in knowing such remote medical advice is available 24 hours a day, with just a single phone call. Whether the emergency situation requires a diversion to the nearest airport or a medical referral overseas, MedAire will coordinate with the nearest, most reputable medical facilities, accessing its proprietary database of worldwide medical providers that includes 15,000 hospitals and clinics in more than 5,000 cities. Each month, MedAire’s Global Emergency Response Centers manage more than 4,000 medical cases in all corners of the globe – on land, at sea or in the air. From Tahiti and Ghana, to Shanghai and Dubai, MedAire staff have coordinated the hospitalization, transportation, repatriation and evacuation of thousands of clients in international environments.
