CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS CALLS ON MEDAIRE, INC.
Passengers and Crew to Benefit From MedAire’s 24-Hour Physician Access

PHOENIX, Ariz. (October 18, 2000) – Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways, a member of the oneworld global airline alliance, announced today that it has partnered with global emergency telemedicine provider MedAire, Inc. of Phoenix, Ariz.

Beginning Nov. 1, every Cathay Pacific flight will be able to access MedAire’s MedLink state-of-the-art emergency telemedicine center and receive immediate assistance in managing any type of in-flight medical situation.  All of Cathay Pacific’s calls will be managed by MedLink’s board-certified emergency physicians who are handling thousands of in-flight medical emergency calls every year.

“We are pleased Cathay Pacific chose MedLink as their telemedicine partner,” said Joan Sullivan Garrett, president and CEO of MedAire.  “By having MedLink on board and now the addition of the automated external defibrillators (AEDs), Cathay Pacific’s crew will be among the best prepared crew in the world.”

“Our aim at Cathay Pacific is always to implement the latest technology to make flying safer and more comfortable for our passengers. We are therefore delighted to be working with MedAire to introduce these new medical facilities on our flights,” said Robert Cutler, Cathay Pacific’s Director Service Delivery.
