The Philips HeartStart FR2 and FR2+ AEDs are not fully compliant with the new AHA guidelines. MedAire recommends you select one of the following reprogramming options:

If your FR2+ has version 1.6…

Any FR2+ device shipped after 12/19/05 has version 1.6 software, which includes SMART CPR and Quick Shock. (When the unit is turned on and conducts a self-test, “version 1.6” will be displayed in the screen.)

If your FR2+ has version 1.6, you may update your device to be 100 percent compliant with 2005 AHA Guidelines by sending the unit to MedAire using this form. If you currently have an AED Refurbishment in your contract, the update will be completed at no additional charge. If you do not have a current AED Refurbishment contract, the fee is $75.00 per device (shipping charges not included).

If your FR2 or FR2+ does not have version 1.6… select one of the options below.

Option A – Exchange Your Existing FR2 or FR2+

You keep your existing AED until the reprogrammed AED arrives. Lead times will vary.

  Benefits to you:

  • You are never without an AED
  • Philips handles the reprogramming for you

  How it Works:

  • Complete the order form below and return it to Philips
  • Philips will ship you an AHA-compliant AED
  • You will return your non-compliant AED to Philips using the same box, but keep original battery, pads and case
  • Your MedAire Account Manager can help you with any questions

  Pricing:

  • $295 per AED

  Note:

  • Your AED must be returned within 30 days – or you will be charged $2,395 for each FR2+ with Text Display and $2,995 for each FR2+ with ECG display
  • Returns cannot be damaged, show excessive wear or permanent markings or you will be charged an additional $295 per damaged AED

IMPORTANT: DO NOT RETURN YOUR BATTERY, PADS AND CASE.

Option B – Return Your Existing FR2 or FR2+

You return your unit to Philips for reprogramming and receive it back in approximately three weeks.

  Benefits to you:

  • Philips handles the reprogramming for you
  • Philips will return your original AED with the same serial number

  How it Works:

  • Complete the order form below and return it to Philips 
  • Wait to receive return instructions and Return Goods Authorization number from Philips
  • Return your non-compliant AED to Philips, but keep your original battery, pads and case
  • Philips will ship your original AED/same serial number in approximately 15 business days of receipt*

  Pricing:

  • $295 per AED
