MedAire Launches ACAA-Compliant Training to Airlines
Training Helps Airlines Achieve Compliance Before May 13 Deadline
PHOENIX, Feb. 19, 2009 – Airlines affected by the new U.S. Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA), which goes into effect May 13, 2009, can get help in quickly becoming compliant through key programs now available from MedAire (www.MedAire.com), an International SOS company.
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s 14CFR Part 382 regulation affects all U.S. commercial carriers, including regional airlines and aircraft charter companies, as well as all non-U.S. carriers that fly to and from the U.S. and/or have a code share arrangement with a U.S. carrier.
The ACAA requires that every affected airline employee and vendor who interacts with the public undergo new training on how to properly assist passengers with disabilities.
MedAire, a medical services and training provider to more than 70 airlines, is providing training in various formats to help airlines quickly and cost effectively become compliant. ACAA-compliant training programs include:
- e-Learning – MedAire’s online course will help airlines roll out ACAA awareness training immediately, without the time or expense of integrating the system within their IT infrastructure. The curriculum is customized for crewmembers, gate agents, reservation agents, customer service agents and complaints resolution officials. Options include recurrent training and a special “differences” course for those who previously received ACAA-related training.
- Train-the-Trainer – Airlines with internal instructors can get up to speed with MedAire’s train-the-trainer program either at their facility or at one of five designated training sites.
- Complaints Resolution Official Training – Airline CROs will learn to successfully resolve conflicts between a passenger with a disability and the airline. Trainees will also gain an in-depth understanding of the regulation, responsibilities of both the airline and passenger and details on regulatory reporting procedures.
- On-site Training – MedAire provides airlines with a complete, turnkey, ACAA-compliant training solution, including an instructor and all course-related materials.
“MedAire has proactively developed cost-effective training and assistance services to help airlines who want to be fully prepared to support passengers with disabilities,” said Grant Jeffery, CEO, MedAire. “Our instructors are experts on the Air Carrier Access Act, offering consistent, professional and flexible options to help airlines achieve compliance.”
